Our new study examining the role of biodegradable plastics in shaping the future environmental impacts of the global plastics system has been published. Using a global environmental systems perspective, the work synthesized material flow and environmental data to project global plastic waste accumulation, greenhouse gas emissions, aquatic ecotoxicity, cumulative energy demand and water footprint in the future.
